Conventional System Drawbacks

Why our basement finishing and insulating systems are superior to conventional systems.

Your basement is a naturally damp and moist environment. How does it affect drywall and wood framing?

Drywall has been used for years in basements. Other than paneling, (which is also a food source for mold) nothing else was available at the time. Do you know of a drywall basement that was done years ago and it still looks fine...?

A drywall finished basement might appear to be fine on the surface. Can you really be sure though, there is no mold growing behind the drywall and the foundation of the basement?

Cost is always a major concern in any re-finishing project. Can you get a drywall finished basement for less than a Basement Transformation Technologies system?

When comparing head to head, if a drywall finished basement was able to offer you all of the features and benefits of a Basement Transformation Technologies system, the drywall finished basement would actually cost more.

Water, flooding, and moisture will quickly destroy drywall and wood construction. Our panels are removable and replaceable. If your basement wall leaks, panels can be removed, leaks repaired, and panels can then be easily reinstalled.

Traditional Drywall/Lumber Construction Concerns

  • Traditional lumber and drywall can rot, warp, and mold in a basement environment. Why waste your hard earned money on remodeling that could be destroyed by mold in a matter of weeks?
  • Mold requires a food source to grow (such as wood or drywall) but our walls are created with material that will not contribute to the growth of mold.
  • Time to complete construction: 2 months or more
  • Extremely messy: Drywall dust tracked through the house; paint spills on new carpet; mud, dirt, and wear and tear from construction workers tracking through your house continually for 2 months or more.
  • Drywall dust also gets in the air ducts and is re-circulated through the home whenever the furnace is running.
  • Usually you must repaint a section of the wall if it gets stained. Sometimes if paint cannot be matched, the entire wall must be repainted. Even in a spotless house, if paint is used, walls need to be repainted every 5 years or so.
  • Dents must be patched with spackle and repainted, creating more dust and mess and difficulties matching paint.
